Friends of TREE

Friends of TREE-UK, formed in 2003 by a group of young South African Professionals residing in the UK, aims to raise fund to support early childhood development initiatives. Friends of TREE-UK has full accreditation with the British Charities Commission and Lord Anthony St. John of Bletso is the Patron.
Fundraising initiatives contributed too many children receiving toys reportedly for the first time.

Objectives:

  • Raised awareness of the difficulty facing young children in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Adjacent Eastern Cape, South Africa
  • Supporting work of South African Non-Profit and Non-Governmental organisations to address the educational and developmental needs of young
    children, through provision of donations.

How does Friends of TREE-UK promote and support work?

  • Develop the skills and knowledge of impoverished women as ECD Site Teachers.
  • Provision of Educational Toys and Resources.
  • Building the capacity of ECD Site Principals/Supervisors and Parents Committees/Governing Body in school management
  • Informing Conducting parenting programmes with parents/caregivers of orphans and vulnerable young children
  • Supporting community development with a focus on young children
